Staff Product Manager, Mortgage Intelligence

Location: Calgary, AB | Department: Product | Level: Staff | Start: Immediately

About Purelend

Purelend is building the mortgage intelligence platform that will power the next generation of mortgage origination—starting in Canada and designed to scale into new lending markets.

Today, originating a mortgage requires constant coordination between borrowers, brokers, underwriters, lenders, and operations teams. Documents must be collected and verified, borrower questions answered, conditions tracked and cleared, risks investigated, and complete files moved through underwriting toward approval and funding. Much of this work still happens through disconnected systems, manual follow-ups, email, spreadsheets, and repetitive review.

Purelend is bringing intelligence and automation to this entire journey. Our platform helps mortgage professionals manage borrower communications, collect and organize documents, verify income and down payments, identify fraud and compliance risks, manage conditions, coordinate outstanding requirements, and move complete, decision-ready files from application through funding.

We’re looking for a Staff Product Manager to lead the evolution of Purelend’s mortgage intelligence platform. You’ll own products from customer problem through launch and adoption, working at the intersection of AI, financial data, regulated lending, and mission-critical operational workflows.

This is an opportunity to help define a new category of mortgage technology and build the intelligence layer that transforms how mortgages are originated.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the end-to-end product owner for Purelend’s mortgage intelligence platform, holding the complete picture across borrower engagement, document collection, financial verification, fraud detection, compliance, underwriting workflows, conditions management, and lender-ready packaging.
  • Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, balancing immediate customer needs with Purelend’s longer-term ambition to automate the mortgage origination journey from application through funding.
  • Spend meaningful time with borrowers, mortgage brokers, underwriters, lenders, and operations teams to understand how work happens today, identify the highest-value problems, and turn those insights into clear product priorities.
  • Partner closely with Engineering and Design to build intuitive, reliable experiences for complex mortgage workflows. Use customer research, workflow mapping, prototyping, and usability testing to turn complicated financial processes into products that feel simple and clear.
  • Design experiences that proactively move files forward by identifying missing information, communicating requirements to borrowers, coordinating follow-ups, tracking outstanding conditions, and helping mortgage professionals understand what needs attention next.
  • Translate lending policies and regulatory requirements into scalable product rules, transparent calculations, audit trails, and effective human-review experiences.
  • Lead products from discovery through pilot, launch, adoption, and iteration. Define requirements, manage tradeoffs, coordinate stakeholders, and ensure teams understand both what we are building and why.
  • Shape Purelend’s AI product strategy, including where automation creates meaningful customer value, where professional judgment must remain in the loop, and how accuracy, explainability, and product quality should be evaluated and monitored.
  • Own the strategy for integrations with mortgage point-of-sale and loan-origination systems, lender platforms, document providers, fraud and identity services, and other parts of the mortgage technology ecosystem.
  • Help define Purelend’s product positioning and go-to-market strategy. Translate product capabilities into clear customer value, shape launch narratives, and equip Sales and Customer Success with the messaging, demonstrations, and materials needed to drive adoption.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Purelend’s customer segments, buying processes, competitive landscape, and product differentiation. Use these insights to inform both the roadmap and how the product is brought to market.
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and company leadership on customer segmentation, positioning, packaging, pricing, onboarding, launch sequencing, sales enablement, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Establish and monitor product metrics such as time to decision-ready file, borrower response time, document completeness, conditions cleared, verification accuracy, automation coverage, exception rates, product adoption, retention, and funded volume supported by the platform.
  • Communicate product strategy, priorities, customer insights, results, and tradeoffs clearly to the founders, internal teams, customers, and industry partners.

What We Look For

  • 6+ years of product management experience, including ownership of complex products from discovery through launch, adoption, and iteration.
  • Experience building products in fintech, mortgage technology, lending, financial services, regtech, or another regulated and data-intensive industry.
  • A strong track record shipping B2B software used in operationally critical workflows. You understand that great enterprise products must be powerful, trustworthy, and easy for frontline users to adopt.
  • Experience with AI-, automation-, or data-intensive products where accuracy, explainability, exception handling, and human review are essential.
  • Strong customer discovery skills. You can move beyond feature requests, understand how customers actually work, and identify the underlying problems worth solving.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional leadership across Engineering, Design, Sales, Customer Success, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and company leadership.
  • Strong technical fluency. You are comfortable discussing system design, APIs, data models, integrations, security, AI evaluation, and the tradeoffs involved in automating financial workflows.
  • Excellent product judgment and prioritization. You can balance customer urgency, product quality, technical constraints, commercial opportunity, and long-term platform strategy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication. You can turn complex lending, technical, and regulatory concepts into clear decisions and compelling product narratives.
  • Comfort operating in an early-stage environment. You bring structure to ambiguity, move between strategy and execution, and willingly do the hands-on work needed to move the product forward.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted tools and a habit of using them to improve the speed and quality of research, analysis, prototyping, documentation, and decision-making.

Nice to Have

  • Direct experience with Canadian mortgage origination, underwriting, brokerage operations, or lender workflows.
  • Familiarity with income qualification, down-payment sourcing, conditions management, bank-statement analysis, fraud detection, AML requirements, or mortgage document review.
  • Product marketing experience, including customer segmentation, positioning, messaging, competitive research, product launches, pricing and packaging, or sales enablement.
  • Strong UX or product design experience, with the ability to map complex workflows, develop and evaluate prototypes, conduct usability research, and collaborate effectively with designers—or move the work forward independently when needed.
  • Experience designing products for expert users where speed and depth must be balanced with clarity, trust, and ease of adoption.
  • Experience integrating with mortgage point-of-sale, loan-origination, open-banking, identity, or financial-data platforms.
  • Experience taking a product from early customer traction to repeatable adoption across larger organizations.

Why Purelend

  • Build foundational technology for one of the largest and most complex lending markets.
  • Work directly with the founders and meaningfully influence company and product strategy.
  • Automate the repetitive work that slows mortgage professionals down and creates unnecessary friction for borrowers.
  • Help define how AI should be used responsibly in high-trust, regulated financial workflows.
  • Join at a stage where your decisions will shape the product, the team, and the company’s trajectory.
